The beauty of found copy

I have been a bit lax in my postings recently. Frankly, I blame the combination of work overload and the beautiful weather. Anyway, while I work on researching my next post, please enjoy a wonderful piece of found copy.

In this age of conversation marketing, I have to wonder if found copy isn’t actually better than copy written by a copywriter.

You decide.

  1. You’re right, many times a spontaneous message exceeds the results of a professional copywriter by miles.

This reminds me of a sign, a photo of which was posted on the internet some time ago: “Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.” A pretty efficient way of keeping people off your property.

Or a sign I saw on the gate of a house, with a picture of an Alsatian: “I get to the gate in 3 seconds. How about you?”

This teaches us copywriters a lesson. The most efficient communication is direct from one person to another. “I” talking to “you”. I’m afraid this is forgotten far too often.
